Meet Far Away Nana
Far Away Nana began with love across a very long distance. I first wrote these stories because I am a far away Nana myself, always looking for small ways to stay connected with my granddaughters and remain part of their everyday world.
As a writer and holistic coach, I’m interested in the experiences that shape little lives — love, connection, courage, kindness, reassurance, curiosity, missing someone, and learning to understand big feelings.
The Far Away Nana stories grow from those ordinary but important moments. They are gentle stories for children and the grown-ups who love them, celebrating the bonds that help us feel close, secure and deeply loved — wherever in the world we happen to be.

Created for children who love someone far away, each Far Away Nana story turns an everyday childhood experience into a gentle reminder that love can travel any distance.
Through laughter, nature, imagination and reassuring family rituals, the books help young children feel connected, comforted and deeply loved—even when Nana (or others) cannot be there in person.

Grandparents Across the Miles
Little ways to stay part of their big little lives
Being a far away grandparent can take a bit of creativity. You can’t always be there for the ordinary Tuesday afternoons, bedtime stories, preschool adventures or suddenly VERY important news about a bug.
But there are lots of little ways to stay familiar, involved and connected.
Here you’ll find simple ideas for video calls, things to pop in the post, questions little people might actually answer, shared activities you can do from two different places, and tiny rituals that say, “I’m still here. I’m interested in your world. And I love you to the moon and back.”

Take the stories a little further
The Far Away Nana books are stories first — made to be enjoyed, wondered about and read together. But the experiences inside them can also open lovely conversations with children about their own lives.
Free educator resources will accompany selected books, with age-appropriate discussion prompts, creative activities and ideas for exploring themes such as connection and belonging, kindness, courage, big feelings, self-care, positive self-talk and the natural world.
Use what suits your children, classroom or learning-at-home day — and leave the rest for another adventure.
Grown-Up Conversations

Behind the Far Away Nana stories are many of the things grown-ups think about too: how we help children feel secure and connected, how we stay close when we can’t physically be there, and how the small things we do repeatedly can become part of a child’s sense of being loved.
Here I share occasional reflections and practical ideas about long-distance grandparenting, connection, childhood, family rituals and finding meaningful ways to be present in the lives of the little people we love.

Far Away Nana began because the little people I love live a long way from me. But somewhere along the way, these stories became about something bigger — the small, everyday ways we help children feel loved, connected, brave and understood.
